Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier, Taiho, pictures, books, movies, model ships and more.The Taiho was an Imperial Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier that operated in World War 2. The Taiho was built by Kawasaki and had her keel laid on July 10th, 1941 and was launched on April 7th, 1943 then commissioned on March 7th 1944. The Taiho was sunk after being torpedoed by the USS Albacore Submarine in the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The Taiho had a standard displacement of 29,770 tons and a fully loaded displacement of 37,270 tons. She had a complement of 1751 men, traveled at 33 knots max speed and held 53 aircraft with a max of 84 aircraft. |
