marketed as "a vacation unto itself." It made its inaugural
run from Chicago to northern California in 1949 and has
remained one of the most treasured passenger trains in
history. Here, you'll take a "head end" cab ride on an
Amtrak F40PH diesel over the Southern Pacific Route from
Sparks, Nevada, to Norden, California. Along the way you'll
see the sights including Reno, Verdi, Stanford Curve, Donner
