From the webmaster: Here's my personal experience.
Are you wondering what you are going to do when you get out of high school.
Take a look around at the guys that have graduated high school a couple
of years ago and stayed around your town, what are they doing?
Here's what I found out through the school of hard knocks. I started
working for a minimum wage job after high school. I worked my tail
off and barely had any money to do anything. I looked at the other
workers in my shop, they were still at minimum wage or at near minimum
wage years later, yet the owner had an airplane, one of those six wheeled
ATV's, a couple of antique cars, a nice house, a new car, a sports car,
get the point. His workers were slaves, they didn't have any money
to go anywhere or really do anything.
This is where I joined the Navy. I bought
a new motorcycle, had a great, professional job, I went to a fantastic
school that was better than any civilian school similar to it, I had a
good income and I traveled all over the world. Get the point!
But are you afraid of being shot at? If
you are drafted, believe me you are going to go to the front lines and
bullets are going to be flying past your heads. If you enlist and
tell them that you want a professional job like a mechanic, electronics
technician, computer programmer, air traffic controller, just about any
professional job. You will be back far away from the bullets fixing
equipment so those draftees will have good weapons when they're getting
shot at. Get the point!
Now I'm retired, I've been everywhere. I've
done everything (almost) and I'm back at home and looking at those guys
who stayed at home and have done nothing all of their lives. They've
done nothing and have gone nowhere. They were just stuck at
home and have very little to show for it. Get the point! |
