|The Kitty Hawk by ET2 Darren Drake|
|This is a picture of Darren standing next to the
tower on the USS Kitty Hawk, CV-63.
You can see that the numbers
are lit up by large lights in the shape of the 63.
I asked Darren
for this picture, but I really wanted pictures of the bronze plaques describing
the Wright brothers first flight at kitty hawk north Carolina, but the
plaques are no longer there.
There was one plaque near the front
of the tower (Island) and one plaque near the back.
Wright brothers first flight included that this flight was 120 feet.
There was an arrow on each plaque pointing to the other plaque saying follow
this arrow to another plaque, that's how far the Wright brothers flew at
kitty hawk, north Carolina.
The plaques are gone now, It would be
interesting to find out where they are now.
If anyone knows, please
let me know at the bottom of this page.
