The F-15 eagle in full afterburner.  The F15 eagle was manufactured by McDonnell Douglas,  weighs 31,700 lbs empty with a max weight of 81,000 lbs, is 63' 9" in length with a wingspan of 74' 9", it has a maximum speed of 1650 mph a cruise speed of 570 mph and a max climb of 50,000 ft/min.  The F-15 has tow Pratt & Whitney F100 engines which produce 14370 lbs of thrust with 23,450 lbs with afterburners and a total of 46,900 lbs total thrust.

What did these kids learn by coming to the Quad Cities Airshow?

Some of the kids took a bungee jump and the rock climb while the others watched.  The kids all saw the Shockwave and Super shockwave  jet trucks, Jimmy Franklin's Waco biplane with a jet engine strapped to the bottom and tremendous afterburner operation.  The kids learned about various jet engine operations with these jets and trucks then they saw a great pyrotechnic display with fireworks ant the wall of fire which you will see in a couple more pages.

Every kid can tell you what an afterburner looks like.
