The Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 was one of the most numerous versions of this famous German World War 2 fighter aircraft. It served in all theatres where the Luftwaffe was active and was used to defend Germany against the American daylight bombing raids.   With its limited range, the Bf 109 was an ideal aircraft for intercepting British bombers over the European continent.   "Yellow 1" flown by 212-victory ace Staffelkapitän Lt.
