| Above is a close-up picture of the sea
ice pack around Longyearbyen, Norway. If you look at the background picture of
this page, you will see what the sea ice looks like from 20,000 feet.
This ice is about 2 to 2.5 meters thick, just about the same thickness
of the ice at he North Pole on the polar ice cap.
