Republic of the Philippines, following 61-Day Line Period in Tonkin Gulf.

When:  February 1968
Where:  USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63) Flight Deck at Waist Cats.
Location:  At Subic Bay, R.P., following 61-Day Line Period in Tonkin Gulf .

From the Webmaster:  Look at the three on the side of the tower.  Notice, at the bottom of the three, there is a piece of yellow gear.   Just to the right of the yellow gear is a door.  You can see the size of this structure.  At the top of the picture is the fifth floor.  This is actually a huge metal building filled with high tech stuff. 

I don't see it, but, when I was stationed on the ship, in 1977 and 1978, there were rectangular a bronze plaque at the far right side of the tower and another one located at the extreme left side of the tower, out of the frame of this picture.   These plaques talked about the first powered 
flight of the Wright Brothers, that they made the first flight at Kitty Hawk North Carolina on December, 17th, 1903.   The plaque on the right had an arrow pointing to the left and the plaque on the left had an arrow pointing to the right, other than that they were both exactly the same.  Again, the plaque talked about their flight and said that the first flight was one hundred and twenty feet.  It next said to walk to the left and see another plaque and this is the distance of their first flight.

From recent photos and conversations with Kitty Hawk crew members, the plaques no longer exist.
