Global Warming and World Problems are all happening all at one time, We Must Act Now. Letter from Lee Iacocca.
7-24-2008
This is a letter that is circulating around the internet. all of us need to read it. Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler Corporation from it's death throes? He has a new book, and here are some excerpts. 'Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'Stay the course' Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America , not the damned 'Titanic'. I'll give you a sound bite: 'Throw all the bums out!' You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore. The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in Iraq , the Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving 'pom-poms' instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of the ' America ' my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I've had enough. How about you? I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have. The Biggest 'C' is Crisis ! Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It's easy to sit there with your feet up on the desk and talk theory. Or send someone else's kids off to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself. It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down. On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A Hell of a Mess. So here's where we stand. We're immersed in a bloody war with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving. We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the country. We're losing the manufacturing edge to Asia , while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs. Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in power has a coherent energy policy. Our schools are in trouble. Our borders are like sieves. The middle class is being squeezed every which way. These are times that cry out for leadership. But when you look around, you've got to ask: 'Where have all the leaders gone?' Where are he curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point. Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo? We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened. Name me one leader who emerged from the crisis of Hurricane Katrina. Congress has yet to spend a single day evaluating the response to the hurricane, or demanding accountability for the decisions that were made in the crucial hours after the storm. Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping it doesn't happen again. Now, that's just crazy. Storms happen. Deal with it. Make a plan. Figure out what you're going to do the next time. Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, what are we going to do about it? Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debit, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry. I have news for the gang in Congress. We didn't elect you to sit on your asses and do nothing and remain silent while our democracy is being hijacked and our greatness is being replaced with mediocrity. What is everybody so afraid of? Why don't you guys show some spine for a change? Had Enough? Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope I believe in America . In my lifetime I've had the privilege of living through some of America 's greatest moments. I've also experienced some of our worst crises: the 'Great Depression', 'World War II', the 'Korean War', the 'Kennedy Assassination', the 'Vietnam War', the 1970s oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years culminating with 9/11. If I've learned one thing, it's this: 'You don't get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action. Whether it's building a better car or building a better future for our children, we all have a role to play. That's the challenge I'm raising in this book. It's a call to 'Action' for people who, like me, believe in America It's not too late, but it's getting pretty close. So let's shake off the crap and go to work. Let's tell 'em all we've had 'enough.' Make a 'real contribution' by sending this to everyone you know and care about......our future is at stake! If you agree with Mr. Iacocca, pass this message on. If you don't, throw it away and hope a good fairy will come along and make everything OK From the Webmaster: We are facing the worst conditions that we could ever imagine. All of the doomsday programs on television are telling us only part of the truth. The Buddhist teach, "Cause and Effect" When we cause something to happen, we will feel the effects. And this works in another way too. If we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem. Drilling for oil is not the answer. Using Ethanol is not the answer. The only answer is to stop the war and stop it's polluting effects, both on the earth and on a social level. About one third of the pollution in the world is coming from war. More than half of the fuel used by the U.S. is used in the war. The war is creating terrorism, not stopping it. We have our heads screwed on in the wrong direction and it's time that we wake up and see that if we don't take immediate action in many areas, we will ALL Lose. That's right. We need to eliminate the Carbon Fuel consumption. We need to eliminate the wars. We need to end the media from teaching our kids filth, hate and violence. Instead, we need one hundred percent carbon free fuel, it's possible and we need it now, not in ten years, or five years or even next year, we need it now. We need to stop the wars. Imagine if someone has killed a million Americans, destroyed our jobs, smashed our homes and killed our brothers, sisters, moms, dads and kids. Would we be mad. HELL YES!!! But that is what we are doing in these other countries, all for so oil companies can make record profits. Can't you see it, we are causing terrorism. The more we kill, the more we threaten, the more hate we spread. We are causing terrorism so our companies can make record profits and increase the control of BIG BROTHER. Global Warming is REALLY REAL. Right now we are screaming about Carbon Dioxide, wait until we start feeling the effects of Methane which is about twenty five times worse than Carbon Dioxide as a greenhouse gas. We will see these effects and are already seeing the Methane Hydrate melt from the bottom of the Arctic Ocean. We are seeing the Methane being produced as the Permafrost Melts in the Arctic. This is the next level of greenhouse gasses, but on Steroids. All at the same time we are seeing Social Pollution. Gangland is teaching our kids about gangs. Our music is filthy, drug filled and violent teaching our kids about every way that they can get high, have sex or kill their teachers. Watch "Family Guy" Just one episode, and you will see that I'm telling you the truth. All of these
problems are hitting at the same time. Wars, Urban Violence, Sexual
Anything Goes, Hunger, Storms, Drought and the Cutting Down of All
Our Forest. It's happening and all at one time. We are being
attacked through Psychological Warfare, Terrorism, and Mother
Nature. It may be too late to stop the process, but we must take
action NOW or it will go from May Be Too Late to See You Later
Charlie, It's Just TOO LATE.
Later;

Hi;
I am thinking your are Jeff Dyrek, who wrote
the below dialog. I went to
www.yellowairplane.com and it is a website advertisement.
Anyway, I agree with your
analysis........it identifies many problem topics.
I cannot find anyone who has any answers to hardly any of them, let
alone anyone who knows what to do about it. Kick the politicians
out----yea, how is that done? Great idea though. Legally I have
always thought it is done by other politicians (impeachment, etc.)
or by voting --but voting (every 4&6 year terms) is like
poker....the one with the most money wins the vote. And the Votes
are from gutless taxpayers who cannot even boycott a hamburger
stand.....who has to drive a pickup truck to haul their fat body and
fat family around. Many others probably haven't been in to this
country very long and have trouble speaking the language still--let
alone know much about how things work....talk about an incentive to
allow illegal's to acquire citizenship. Yes, I am red-faced mad at
what is going on in this country. But, my dilemma is not knowing
what or how to do. Let alone having the time or money. I must keep
working to pay for the higher cost of living....just like most
Americans. How the illegal's and poor get by is beyond me.
I am a retired military Reservist and spent my
59th birthday in Iraq serving a year tour there......my family name
(Jochem) --ancestor came to NY in 1661 at 20 years old. My daughter
is eligible to join the 'Daughters of the Revolution' organization.
I am the 13th generation of Yocums' in this country and I have less
rights and government assistance capabilities than the illegal's.
This really works against my grain. I have spent 34 years since
1964 as a working member of our military defense force supporting
efforts to keep this Nation strong and free, but if I say the wrong
thing to some sassy female in a check out line, she can call the
cops on me and I can be arrested.....Or if I touch her in a "wrong"
way, I can be a sex offender and be charged. The worse thing is
these same persons can vote and usually it would be for a same sex
if possible whether they are qualified or not.
Don't get me wrong, I am not prejudice; In
Iraq, I worked side by side with a Spanish American unit from New
Mexico whose ancestry fought with Davy Crocket against Santa Anna,
and most of them feel the illegal's should be sent home. I also
have worked with many females in the military today...and most are
very capable of performing their jobs......physical conditioning,
well, they know how to 'beat/get around' the system.
And price fixing I always thought was
illegal....like raising the price of fuel to $4-5 per
gallon....cigarettes to $4-5 per pack....utility companies raising
prices 70% in 18 months, food prices going up......and on and on.
Monopolies: There are 5 oil companies.......tell me that is not the same thing as a monopoly. The foreign car manufacturers were allowed in because the government thought we had too few car manufacturers. They have been successful because of Lean6Sigma thinking....google leansixsigma and read about that.....It is sweeping the corporate world but combined with America thinking, it IS putting people out of jobs
Anyway, I have vented enough........I am
looking for ideas as to how I can contribute to 'the revolt' to find
leadership that can make big differences.
