B-24 Liberator Model Airplanes
B-24 Liberator Movies B-24 Liberator Aviation Art B-24 Liberator Books The B-24 Liberator was the most highly produced bomber in WW2. Without the high production levels of the B-24 Liberator Bomber, the United States may not have Won the war. Produced at a staggering rate of one every 56 minutes, the B-24 Liberator provided us with the might to overwhelm the enemy and take the fight to their country. In addition, the B-24 Liberators were the main aircraft which defeated the German U-Boat Wolfpacks in the Northern Atlantic allowing our supply ships to provide the urgent supplies to the Allied troops in the European theater. Below is a description of one of the B-24 Liberators in the Ploesti Raids of August 1st 1943. Badly damaged by flak, Hell's Wench - a B-24 Liberator flown by Lt. Col. Addison Baker, commander of the 93rd Bomb Group - continues toward its target during the daring low-level attack on the Ploesti oil refineries on August 1, 1943. Hell's Wench crashed shortly after releasing its bomb load, killing all of its crew. |
