North Pole Travel and Global Warming, What it Means to You

This is Siamak Hatami holding the first Iranian flag ever to be brought to the North Pole.  Siamak had a great time on the pole and was featured on Iranian National television as being the first Iranian to stand on the north pole with the help of an American,  that's me, C. Jeff Dyrek.     I learned this after we got back to Khatanga after Siamak called his family.   The one thing is that we almost didn't make to the pole and this news article came out before we were there because we were a week late making it to the pole.   After Siamak and I returned to Khatanga, we both discussed this and had a big laugh.  What if we never made it to the pole was the question.  What would he tell the news in his country.  Luckily, Global Expeditions, our expedition leader, ironed out all of the final details and allowed us to make a mad dash so we can claim that we did it.  We really did it.

Look at this link to see the news articles of Siamak on the pole after we really did make it and he sent the photos to Tehran.
