one of the most outstanding pilots of WWII. Practically an Air Force all by
himself, he flew more than 2,500 combat missions, was shot down 12 times,
destroyed 519 tanks, 800 vehicles, 150 artillery pieces, one battleship, one
cruiser, and one destroyer. He even shot down nine Soviet aircraft in
