Click Here is a picture of the KV Svalbard breaking ice in the Barents sea.  You can see that the KV Svalbard leaves a nice path for other ships to follow.   With the engines being on swivel pods, they are capable of turning 360 degrees while applying full thrust.  The engines are fed by a two kilovolt source from it's diesel engines and generators.
