Waiting for Fighter Pilots, These World War Two P-47 Thunderbolt military fighters are ready for action.  

Here are the P-47 Thunderbolts on the flight line on the Island of Ie Shima.  The pilots are ready 24/7 for any enemy attack.  Their primary jobs were close ground support for the Army and Marines, Bomber Escort over Japan,  Light Attack of Japan and Defense of the island.   This is a view from Vincent A.
