Photos and specs of the Lockheed f-80 shooting star being loaded with 50 cal. ammo during the Korean war

The F-80C Shooting Star was made by Lockheed. The shooting star was 34' 5" long, 11' 3" high and had a wingspan of 38' 9". The F-80 Shooting Star used one Allison J33-A-35 jet engine producing 5,400 lbs of thrust. It had a cruise speed of 439 mph and a maximum speed of 594 mph with a maximum climb rate of 6,870 ft/min.

Loading .50 caliber ammunition for machine guns of an F-80 Shooting Star jet fighter. On 7 August 1950, enemy units crossed the Naktong River near Waeguan: others drove south from Yonggi-dong against U.N. forces. Later in the war the Air Force ordered more F-51 Mustangs to Korea as a superior ground support aircraft over the F-80.
