It is not necessarily the opinion of the webmaster.  However, we hear many stories about our politicians, some of them are true, some of them are not.  Some of these stories about the US President are started as true and by the time that they have been told many times and modified, they are far from the truth.  If anyone has served with US President Bush in the Military, please let me know.  Here is a list of books, videos, DVD movies and links about President George W. A letter from a WW2 Vet.

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by George Bush He answered by saying that, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return."

It became very quiet in the room.

What about George Bush

From Jerry

I have a question that no one I know seems to be able to answer to my  satisfaction
"Why is George W. Bush so popular with veterans?"
I mean, when I was in the Marine corps and being shot at,  he was a draft dodging coward and a hypocrite to boot, if you believe   what he has to say about his opinion on the Vietnam war.

So far as I have been able to find out there is not a single person that   ever remembers flying with him in the National Guard   He completed his guard service in Alabama   while living in Cambridge  with never a show up   and yet most vets and current service people I know   love him to death?

I remember well most of my fellows jar heads  and they weren't particularly sophisticated   but they were pretty good at weeding out the weak, and the phony's   or if not weeding them out,   at least recognizing them   and here they are now  (it seems)   I mean it is always possible that it is just  a big managed pr scam   sucking it in for this chicken drug sucking unaccomplished coattail    riding moron?   go figure   Al Gore as inarticulate as protoplasm comes  hated the war  didn't have to go and enlisted and went  (and the story I heard)  was given a CIB but doesn't wear it because he thinks he doesn't' deserve it   and was trashed by veterans (what?  80-20??)

Now I know that they have been dumbing down the schools since I quit   high school  but can they be that dumb?   Can vets and soldiers be dumber than lice?
what gives here?

A Reply from John, an Airline Pilot and Former Air National Guard Pilot.

Just a few comments on the letter from "Jerry".  First off, President Bush was not a draft dodger.  President Clinton was.  President Bush served his country in the National Guard as a fighter pilot.  I am both a veteran from active duty and the  National Guard, and I want to point out that there are quite a few soldiers in the Guard who are very proud (and have  every right to be) of their Guard service.  The President served in the Texas Air National Guard.  While I did not know him,  I have talked with many former Air Guard pilots (as an airline pilot, these are people I come into contact with on a daily  basis) who served the same time he did.  They knew who he was.  Many critics mention how he didn't finish his tour.  His  unit was transitioning to a new aircraft that would've required expensive schooling.  The Air Force offered him the chance to either get out a little early (since he was due to get out in a few months), or extend his tour for a number of years.   He chose to get out early.  This sort of thing happens all the time in these types of jobs.  The military doesn't want to  spend the money training someone on a new system if that individual is going to separate very shortly thereafter.

As far  as Al Gore is concerned, he enlisted in the army as a journalist.  He was stationed in Alabama. (Ft. McClellan).  His  enlistment was timed perfectly with his father's bid for reelection.  His father was known as a very liberal, anti-Vietnam  War politician in a very conservative state.  It was thought that young Al in uniform would help win some votes.  (Al did  accompany his father throughout most of the campaign).  When his father was defeated, Al was ordered (didn't volunteer) to Vietnam, where he served around 6 months or so.  As far as his being awarded the CIB, that is strictly an army infantry award.  To date, I know of no one! that has been awarded the CIB that was not infantry qualified at the  time of the award.  If Al was given the coveted award as a journalist, I would think that there would be more said about  it.

Just some thoughts.
John

From the Webmaster.

Before Mr. Bush became President, I said who ever gets this next term in office will have the toughest presidency of any President, ever!  Now we can see that this is true.  President Bush has and will have a tough time and I don't think any man is better qualified to do the job and he has shown us that he is for all Americans and has proven that he can handle the job better than anyone thought possible.  We all need to give him all of our support and thanks.   But keep reading below and look at the links too.  These have even surprised me.  There is one thing that President Bush recently said on May 2007, speaking of terrorist, "They only have to be right once, We have to be right One Hundred Percent of the time.

amazone.com
This episode of Biography from the A&E network was produced in 1999, and while it offers a look at the life of George W. Bush, the  narrative ends before the 2000 presidential campaign began. As Bush's father served as president and his grandfather was a U.S. senator  from Connecticut, the role of Bush family, which wielded influence in banking as well as politics, is explored. A childhood spent in Texas (after his birth in Connecticut) is described, and people who knew George W. as a child and later as a teenager at an exclusive New  England prep school recall him for having a sense of humor and sociable demeanor. His life as a fraternity president at Yale is mentioned,  and there are passing references to a hazing scandal and "partying." But there really is little controversy raised by this program beyond  later noting that as an adult "years of partying were beginning to take their toll." Bush himself appears on camera and talks cheerfully about giving up drinking as he entered his 40s. Texas journalists, including Molly Ivins and Bush biographer Bill Minutaglio, appear to  speak about Bush's entry into politics and his run for the Texas statehouse. Viewers seeking a generally upbeat overview of Bush's life before running for president will no doubt enjoy this program, though it's fair to note that it breaks little new ground. --Robert J. Bush's Bogus Medals

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Bob Fertik, Democrats.com

In this picture, George W. Bush is wearing an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (AFOUA - the ribbon on the left) and a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (SAEMR - the ribbon on the right). Wearing an unearned medal is certainly a "character" issue of the highest order.  In 1996, when Admiral Jeremy Boorda, Chief of US Naval Operations, was presented with evidence that he wore medals that he had not earned, he committed suicide in disgrace.

George W. Bush was photographed wearing a ribbon he did not earn

We can clearly see that in this picture, George W. Bush is wearing an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, however, on line 24 of his ARG22 National Guard discharge form, George W. Bush has NO awards listed:

Bush and Oil  Under the watchful eyes of Bush and his Oil Buddies oil s has increased 268% and that is expected to continue throughout his Presidency.

The most important difference between North Korea and Iraq is that economically, we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims on a sea of oil." --June 2003

The United States of oil
No administration has ever been more in bed with the energy industry -- but does that mean Big Oil is calling Bush's shots? First of two parts.  By Damien Cave
Nov. 19, 2001 |
The Bush administration's ties to oil and gas are as deep as an offshore well. President George W. Bush's family has been running oil companies since 1950. Vice President Dick Cheney spent the late '90s as CEO of Halliburton, the world's largest oil services company. National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice sat on the board of Chevron, which graced a tanker with her name. Commerce Secretary Donald Evans was the CEO of Tom Brown Inc. -- a natural gas company with fields in Texas, Colorado and Wyoming -- for more than a decade.

Oil and the Bush Administration
by Mark J. Palmer
Earth Island Journal, Autumn 2002
Last year, Vice President Dick Cheney hosted a series of meetings with a group of energy industry representatives and lobbyists. From these meetings, the Bush administration unveiled a controversial National Energy Plan, which consisted chiefly of 33 billion in public subsidies and tax cuts for the oil, coal, and nuclear power industries, as well as provisions to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for industrial oil drilling.
One participant was grudgingly revealed by Cheney early on: Former Enron CEO and George W Bush's most generous campaign contributor, Kenneth Lay Cheney admitted that he and/or his staff met at least six times with Lay on energy policy issues. Congress member Henry Waxman (D-CA) subsequently identified 17 different provisions of the Bush National Energy Plan bill that would have benefited Enron. At least one Executive Order on energy policy was virtually identical to draft proposals submitted by the American Petroleum Institute.

This is a good page to show who's who in the Bush Oil connections.
The National Enquirer OnLine
The Enron Corporation gave the Taliban millions of dollars in a no-holds-barred bid to strike a deal for an energy pipeline in Afghanistan -- wile the Taliban were already sheltering terror kingpin Osama Bin Laden!
Enron executives even met with Taliban officials in Texas, where they were given the red-carpet treatment and promised a fortune if the deal went through.

Bush's War for Oil

Many progressives believe Bush invaded Iraq to steal its oil. My candidate in the 2004 primaries - Dennis Kucinich - had the guts to say it on Meet The Press in February 2003, which freaked out war whores like Richard Perle and Richard Cohen. Kucinich was challenged by Tim Russert to prove that oil was the basis for Bush's war:

"I base that on the fact that there is 5 trillion worth of oil above and in the ground in Iraq, that individuals involved in the administration have been involved in the oil industry, that the oil industry would certainly benefit from having the administration control Iraq, and that the fact is that, since no other case has been made to go to war against Iraq ... oil represents the strongest incentive."

Bush Jr.'s Skeleton Closet

George Bush likes to present himself as a straight-talking, regular guy. But it's an act -- regular guys don't go to Andover Prep, Yale and Harvard Business School, and straight-talking guys don't pretend to be regular guys after growing up in one of the most privileged homes in world history. Not only was Bush's dad president, his grandpa was a U.S. Senator and wealthy Wall Street banker, and his mom's blueblood family owned (among other things) the estate in Maine that Bush still hangs out at.

From the Webmaster:  I would believe that this was a war on terror and all of the above was just anti-Bush propaganda but WHY DID THE OIL COMPANIES MAKE RECORD PROFITS DURING THE TIME OF NATIONAL EMERGENCY?  WHY? If this happened during World War 2, those oil companies would be on the chopping block, but instead, our people are on the chopping block.

How did all this come about to begin with.  It's because of the un-constitutional practice of campaign funding.  As soon as we had campaign funding, it allowed a person to gain access to acquiring public office through contributions and not on their personal merit alone.  Looking at the debates several elections ago.  Ross Perot and Ralph Nader were not even allowed to attend the debates.  This shows that the Government took control over our government, the government by the people.  Former President Clinton said that "This is our debate, not theirs."  No!  It's not their debate, it's our debate, the debate that belongs to the people of the United States not to the  politicians.  Our country was formed by and for the People of the United States not the good old boys that are now placed into office by huge corporate or special interest group campaign funding and selective media coverage.  This appears to be an illegal government because it does not represent the people.

To fix this problem, all campaign funding should all go to a central fund where all qualified candidates can equally draw from the fund and the media should allow equal time on equal programs.  An equal funding and media coverage would ensure that a politician would be elected on their merit alone, not on the wishes of huge corporations or special interest groups who want special favors by giving enormous campaign funding to individuals.  This is the truth.  This is what a true Democracy really means.  We have a pseudo democracy in our country today and look at how everything is turning out.  Where is our country heading?  Read these following links and you will see where we are heading.
