Books about the U.S. Navy A-4 Skyhawk Light Attack
jet fighter made by McDonnell Douglas.
The A-4 Skyhawk was a very popular light attack jet fighter used in the
U.S. Navy in squadrons like training squadron VA-127 at NAS Lemoore in
Lemoore California. This plane was also used by the U.S. Navy Blue
Angels for a number of years because of its low cost of operation and super
maneuverability. The A-4 Skyhawk along with the A-7 Corsair II were
placed by the very much modernized F-18 Hornet that is in use by the Navy
today. The A-4 Skyhawk had a remarkable 720 degree per second roll
rate, that was two rolls in one second which I find incredible. I
have personally watched an A-4 Skyhawk crash at NAS Lemoore as it landed
on its belly tanks with the wheels up after it lost power due to a wrench
that was left in the intake which damaged the engine. This airplane
book store page has a good collection of A-4 Skyhawk books that you will
enjoy to read. C. Jeff Dyrek, Webmaster.
